Description
| - The objective of the present paper is a variance-based sensitivity analysis of input imperfections on the ultimate limit state of steel plane frames. The Sobol's variance based strategy was applied for the sensitivity analysis. The load-carrying capacity, solved on behalf of the Monte Carlo numerical simulation method, was the output random quantity. The load-carrying capacity was solved by the geometrical nonlinear finite element solution. Input imperfections (material and geometrical characteristics of steel columns and cross beam) were measured, and their histograms have been applied in the Monte Carlo method. Attention is focused on an analysis of the influence of initial system imperfection introduced in the form of first eigen mode of buckling. Imperfections that have a dominant influence on the load-carrying capacity are identified.
