Description
  • In extreme hydrological situations, dikes are momentarily exposed to extraordinary loads. Infiltrating water causes distinctive changes in their status of stress and stability. Assurance of dike stability for any probable developments of load is the highest prerequisite of their reliability. The problem difficulty rests mainly in the fact that water streaming is not stationary and occurs in an unsaturated environment. The solution of grant projects GA CR 103/01/0057 and GA CR 103/04/0741 is a proposal aand laboratory verification of two methods for electrical monitoring the dike status and its changes. To indicate the development in time and space, electronic devices of high sensitivity were used, based on the principle of identification of the temperature scalar field development and electric conductivity in the dike earth. Knowledge of the development makes a basis for calibration and verification of mathematical models.
