| Description
| - The design, development and dimensioning of a railway vehicle or its essential component parts cannot be realised without the quality knowledge of mechanical and another parameters of basic processes and materials. Data sheets and databases are often insufficient, especially for dimensioning structures for uncommon operating conditions such as in areas with low temperature. To help with the problems, Research Centre of Railway Vehicles has been founded in 2005 as a subject composed of several Czech research institutes and universities including significant cooperation with several important Czech producers and operators of railway vehicles. Contemporary knowledge and research works follow just in the structure of such proposed research trends. There are synergic effects resulting from the approaches and procedures of the basic, applied and industrial research on materials, component parts, structural nodes and whole structures of the rail vehicles.

- Tvar, vývoj a navrhování kolejových vozidel nebo jejich hlavních částí ve vztahu k základním parametrům technologie a materiálů je nesmírně důležité, ale mnohdy je komplikováno destatečnými literárními údaji o vlastnostech materiálů. Výzkumné centrum kolejových vozidel založené v roce 2005 ve spolupráci s předními výrobními závody má za cíl rozšiřovat základnu prvotního i aplikovaného výzkumu pro potřeby kolejových vozidel ve všech oblastech.
