Description
  • In our work, selected matrices, silver nanostructures and other metallic or non-metallic surfaces were compared with the aim to test their suitability for (MA)LDI-MS analysis of lipids in both polarity modes. The mixture of 25 representatives of lipid classes including acylglycerols, phospholipids, sterols, sphingolipids, glycosphingolipids was used for this comparison. Individual materials and matrices were scored with respect to the intensity of extracted ion currents of lipid molecular adducts. The effect of laser energy on the signal intensity was also studied and optimized value was used for final measurements. Non-metallic surfaces have not provided any signal of lipids, while some metallic materials have shown comparable or even better results to classical matrix approaches.
