Description
| - Surface free energy may be defined as the excess energy at the surface of the material compared to the bulk. For liquids the surface tension and surface density are identical. For solids, especially polymers with low free surface energy, direct measurements are not possible. The most convenient method is calculations based on contact angle measurements of sessile drop using different liquids. During our research work we use polar and non-polar liquids: water, diiodomethane, formamide and ethylenglycol. For surface free energy measurement we use Krüss DSA 100 apparatus with original software and database of test liquids for calculations. For calculations of surface free energy we use Owens-Wendt (geometric mean equation), Wu method (harmonic mean equation) and so-called ?acid-base theory of surfaces? developed by van Oss, Chaudhury and Good with the help of the acid-base model according to Lewis.
