| - The aim of the presented work was to study the prevalence of enterococci in material isolated from healthy dogs and dogs with various infections and to determine properties of particular strains. Out of the total number of 1178 swab samples obtained from 444 dogs, 433 (36,7%) of specimens contained enterococci. The most frequently isolated species was Enterococcus (E.) faecalis. Out of other species E. faecium, E. durans, E. hirae, E. casseliflavus, E. mundtii, E. columbae, E. solitarius, E. rafinosus and E. gallinarum were identified. Determination of biochemical properties of individual strains was based on conventional tests and EN-COCCUS tests and results were analyzed using the Identification program TNW lite 6.0 and identification schemes described in literature.

- Byl sledován výskyt enterokoků a zastoupení jednotlivých druhů v klinickém materiálu od psů zdravých a psů s lokálně probíhající infekcí. Z 1178 tamponových stěrů odebraných z různých lokalit 444 psům byly ve 433 (36,7 %) prokázány enterokoky. Nejvyšší výskyt byl zaznamenán ve výtěrech z rekta (80,9 %) a vaginy (35,5 %). Nejfrekventovanějším druhem byl E. faecalis. Z 420 kmenů izolovaných od zdravých psů byl identifikován v 50 %, z 83 kmenů z klinických změn v 69,9 %. Ve výtěrech z rekta převažoval E. faecium a to jak u zdravých (70,6 %) tak nemocných (27,3 %) psů, z dalších druhů zejména E. faecalis (62,8 % u zdravých, 13,2 % u nemocných). Z výtěru prepuciálního vaku byl vykultivován nejčastěji E. faecalis a to jak od psů bez klinických změn (50 %) tak i psů s balanoposthitis (58,3 %).Rovněž u zdravých fen dominoval E. faecalis. Ve vzorcích z dutiny ústní byly enterokoky prokazovány zejména u psů s dental caries (73,3 %), přičemž 7 (63,6 %) z 11 izolovaných kmenů byly E. faecalis. Enterokok (cs)
