Description	The terms %22art%22 and %22the problems and issues of an artist%22 as the leitmotifs of German literature has always been a broad discussion forum in the field of literary studies. The authors focus on the works of Wackenroder, Tieck, E. T. A. Hoffmann, Hofmannsthal, Thomas Mann, George and Hesse in this volume. They point out some of the most crucial moments of art and individuality of artist in the history of German literature of the 19th and 20th century. The freedom granted by the art, its significance and, last but not least, its role as the medium of communication act are an important basis for the self-definition of a creative individual across the border of literary fiction. (en) Die Begriffe %22Kunst%22 und %22Künstlerproblematik%22 eröffnen als Leitmotive der deutschsprachigen Literatur seit jeher ein breites Diskussionsforum auf dem Gebiet der Literaturwissenschaft. Die Autoren fokussieren im vorliegenden Band auf das Werk von Wackenroder, Tieck, E. T. A. Hoffmann, Hofmannsthal, Thomas Mann, George und Hesse, um auf einige der entscheidendsten Momente der Kunst und des Künstlertums in der deutschen Literaturgeschichte des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts aufmerksam zu machen. Die Freiheit, die die Kunst gewährt, ihre Aussagekraft und nicht zuletzt ihre Rolle als Medium der Kommunikation wirken als wichtige Stützpunkte bei der Selbstdefinierung eines schaffenden Individuums auch über die Grenze der literarischen Fiktion hinweg.
