| Description
| - In my opinion, there are two interesting approaches to politics, which are almost contradictory. The first one is %22existential%22 (Václav Havel), the second one %22realistic%22 (Ladislav Hejdánek). The existential approach stresses the personal incorruptness and integrity; it presupposes that the most important thing is to save one's own life, respectively soul. The way of realization of this %22care of the soul%22 rests mostly on moral life. Realists on the contrary emphasize political and social struggle - not only as an alternate way, but as an alternate content of meaningful life as well. Chartists according to Hejdánek should not have first of all neither aspire to saving one's face and credibility, nor to care for their selves or to concentrate on their interior. They should have given up their freedom and seriously overshadow themselves. Hejdánek does not agree that the essence of contemporary troubles consists in moral crisis, that troubles of our time can be solved by the turn of people from the life in falsehood to the life in truth (Havel). The main problems are political and it is impossible to solve them by the morality; the politics is not an applied morality and to fight against the non-moral politics in fact means a pointless fight against the politics as such. There is also a very special concept of truth in terms of Hejdánek's non-political politics, a concept which understands the truth as a subordinate to the misery or poverty of the world. To tell the truth is not the most important thing, because it is more important how, where and when it is told, and mainly whether it is told on the side of power or powerlessness. We should not pursue our interests and intentions but rather crucial things which on the contrary lead us (and free us) from our own projects. (en)
- Známé dělení politických myslitelů na moralisty a realisty autora vede k otázce, kam svým jedinečným, nicméně nejednoznačným přístupem k věcem veřejným a k političnu spadá Ladislav Hejdánek. Zakládá Hejdánek své chápání demokracie a liberalismu (a svobod a práv s nimi spojených) na morálce (fi losofi i, teorii systému), anebo uznává prvotnost politična? Ačkoli jsou u Hejdánka morální apely časté a zásadní, v textu ukazuji, že u něho převažuje realismus.
