Description	The publication is the first summary of the tolar and dollar currency of 16th to 20th century elaborated from the perspective of Central Europe - a region where the tolar coins originated and gave the name of the worlds most widely used currency units. Business, economics and politics of that time have been closely linked, which must be taken into account even in case of the research of history of early modern monetary systems and their money. History of money in this publication, conceived in the broad context of historical context regarding the development of European and international monetary systems and their interrelationships. (en) Publikacja jest pierwszym całościowym przeglądem rozwoju walut (talara i dolara) XVI-XX wieku, opracowanym z punktu widzenia Europy Środkowej - tej przestrzeni historycznej, gdzie miały miejsce narodziny najstarszych srebrnych talarów, które dały nazwę najbardziej rozprzestrzenionej nowoczesnej walucie świata. Handel, gospodarka i polityka tych czasów były już wzajemnie mocno powiązane ze sobą i nie można ich oddzielić także podczas badania wczesnonowożytnych systemów walutowych i samych pieniędzy. Dzieje pieniądza są bowiem w tej książce ujęte jako historia, w której czytelnik znajduje wyjaśnienie złożonych związków historycznych dotyczących rozwoju europejskich i światowych systemów walutowych oraz ich wzajemnych powiązań.
