  • Living in the continuously changing multicultural world with opening frontiers, distances getting smaller and relationships closer every day, it is important to realize that this brings new demands into many areas of human existence. In education a need to respond to them is reflected on various levels - most of them related in some way to the key agent in any educational change, the teacher. This theoretical paper focuses on one specific qualitatively new demand formulated also in curricular documents: incorporation of intercultural education into curriculum. Consequently, the teachers themselves should possess a high level of Intercultural Communicative Competence since they are the agents who should bring this concept into life. A meta-analysis of models of the core concept, Intercultural Communicative Competence, will be presented with special attention to a teacher.
