Description	Root gravitropism enables directed root growth to stabilize plants in soil and facilitate acquisition of nutrients essential for plant life. Regulation of gravitropism has been attributed to the differential distribution of phytohormone auxin and auxin-mediated regulation of root elongation. Fast changes in the subcellular localization of auxin transporters from the PIN family in the root columella cells were demonstrated to correlate with auxin redistribution and proper root gravitropic response. PIN proteins were previously shown to be under control of other phytohormones cytokinins (CKs) and the importance of auxin/CKs interactions was demonstrated in the de novo organogenesis or lateral root formation. To inspect potential role of auxin/CKs interactions in the root gravitropism, we used transgenic lines with depleted endogenous CKs (Pro35S:AtCKX2 and Pro35S:AtCKX3) and mutants in the CK signaling pathway.
