Description	Dans l article nous étudions l’ordre des mots et la place du sujet dans la prose francaise du XIIIe siecle (Li Contes dou roi Coustant lEmpereur). L ordre directe n est en ancien francais qu apparent. Bien que le systeme casuel permette une plus grande liberté, la position distincte des parties du discours n est pas tout a fait fortuite, elle releve, dans la plupart des cas, du principe de la perspective fonctionnelle de la phrase. Au début de la proposition il apparait une partie de discours accentuée. Le sujet inexprimé, implicite, surtout au prédicat multiple, est courant. Il est omis également dans les constructions impersonnelles. L’inversion du sujet, courant dans les propositions interrogatives et incises, est relativement fréquente apres des adverbes (si, lors, ...), apres la conjonction et et apres des locutions adverbiales de temps. In the paper we examine the word order and position of subject in French prose of the XIIIth century (Li Contes dou roi Coustant lEmpereur). The so-called “ free word order “in Old French is only relative. The declination’s system allows much more freedom, but different position of constituents of the sentence isn’t completely accidental, it is mostly governed by the principle of functional sentence perspective. Accented constituent appears at the beginning of the sentence and provokes subject-verb inversion. Null-subject, implicit, particularly by multiple predicates, is common. It is even missed in impersonal constructions. The subject-verb inversion, common in interrogative sentences and reporting clauses, is quite often after adverbs (si, lors ...), the conjunction et and after the adverbial of time. (en)
