Description
  • The study was performed in the Sokolov coal mining district (Czech Republic) where three types of soil materials were sampled. A wide spectrum of toxicity tests using post mining site soils gave similar rankings. Substrate pH was the most important parameter related to site toxicity. Laboratory tests were compared to community composition of plants, algae, and invertebrates in field. There were very poor agreements between the laboratory toxicity tests and field community patterns.
