Description	The ecology and behaviour of temperate zone microchiropteran bats are fundamentally affected by seasonal changes in day length and associated climatic variables, which become more pronounced at increasing latitudes. These changes require fl exible behavioural adjustments of their circadian as well as circannual activity patterns. A characteristic feature of the annual cycle of insectivorous temperate zone bats is hibernation.
