Description	The mayfly taxocene of the Panonnian potamal river segment (the Jihlava River, Danube basin, the Czech Republic) have been analysed several times during the past 50 years in order to detect its long-term changes and their origin and consequences. The investigated area was influenced by (i) local impact - pollution; (ii) regional changes - upstream and downstream construction of impoundments a land use changes within the watershed area; and (iii) undoubtedly global changes. Mayfly data from 1950`s, 1960`s, 1970`s, 1990`s and present status have been evaluated on the basis of ecological and life cycle traits of species found. Information on changing environment was collected to detect the main trends focusing on the hydrological data (discharge regime, water temperature), climatic data (air temperature) water quality (esp. organic pollution), and both quantitative and species number changes of the taxocene. The linkage between changing biota and changing abiotic conditions were suggested.
