| - The saproxylic communities of beetles (Coleoptera) and ants (Formicidae) were studied in hardwood floodplain forests located in South Moravia (Czech Republic) from 1996 to 1999. The study focused on the impact of floods on the communities, particularly those in fallen trunks of pedunculate oak. Further objectives were to provide species inventories for floodplain sites, to assess the sites' conservation value, and to make recommendations regarding habitat management. Two sites with similar dead wood quantities but differing as to their exposure to floods were compared: one that has not been flooded since 1971, and one exposed to semi-natural flooding and struck by a summer flood in 1997. Limited collecting was conducted on a third site. The communities of lying oak trunks were studied using emergence traps. - V letech 1996 až 1999 byly studována saproxylická společenstva brouků (Coleoptera) a mravenců (Formicidae) v porostech tvrdého luhu na jižní Moravě (ČR). Výzkum se soustředil na vliv záplav na tyto taxocenózy a to především v padlých kmenech dubu letního. Dalším cílem výzkumu bylo získání invetáře druhů pro konkrétní lužní lokality, posoudit jejich hodnotu pro ochranu přírody a formulovat doporučení k péči o dané biotopy. Byly vybrány dvě lokality s obdobným množstvím odumřelého dřeva lišící se v míře vystavení záplavám: jedna naposledy zaplavena v r. 1971, jedna stále vystavena polopřirozeným záplavám a v r. 1997 zasažena letní záplavou. V omezené míře bylo sbíráno také na třetí lokalitě. Společenstva v ležících dubových kmenech byla studována pomocí emergenčních pastí (fotoekletorů). Oknové pasti, stromové fotoekletory, individuální sběr a odchovávání byly použity jako doplňkové metody ke studiu celkového saproxylického společenstva brouků daných lokalit (byly takto získány i další druhy mravenců).
