Description	If we consider the 10th century in western and central Europe as a dark century that was much influenced by the destabilisation of old entities, then this characteristic is true to a particular extent for so-called Great Moravia and especially for its heartland that extended along the lower reaches of the main Moravian rivers, the Morava and Dyje. Great Moravia was an early state, or so-called cyclical chiefdom, that dominated the eastern areas of central Europe politically as well as culturally in the 9th century. The end of the short existence of Great Moravia came at the beginning oft he 10th century when Magyar tribes settled in the Carpathian Basin and the political as well as the military circumstances in east-central Europe changed fundamentally. Considerably less attention was paid to the locations of finds from the 10th century in Moravia in comparison with previous periods. In the final quarter of the 10th century, an important centre came into being at the confluence of the Morava and Dyje. (en) Betrachten wir das 10. Jahrhundert in West- und Mitteleuropa als dunkles Jahrhundert, das im Zeichen der Destabilisierung alter Einheiten steht, dann trifft diese Charakteristik in besonderem Maße auf das sogenannte Großmähren und speziell für dessen Kernland zu, das sich an den unteren Läufen der mährischen Hauptflüsse March und Thaya entlang erstreckt hatte. Großmähren war ein frühes Staatsgebilde oder sogenanntes cyclical chiefdom, das im 9. Jahrhundert politisch sowie kulturell die östlichen Gebiete Mitteleuropas dominierte. Ende der kurzen Existenz Großmährens fällt an den Beginn des 10. Jahrhunderts, als sich im Karpatenbecken die magyarischen Stämme angesiedelt und die politischen wie militärischen Umstände in Mittelosteuropa grundsätzlich verändert haben. Die nachgroßmährische Periode zählt zu den am wenigsten bekannten Abschnitten der regionalen Geschichte. Nach dem Untergang Großmährens geriet das untere Thayatal und Marchtal in ein machtpolitisches Vakuum. Seit den 70er Jahren des 10.
