Description
  • Action voltage of cardiac cells is expressed as a sum of particular components representing contributions of individual ionic currents in terms of electrical charges transferred across cell membrane. Biophysical models describing electrical membrane phenomena in rat and human ventricular cardiomyocytes by sets of nonlinear differential equations are used to verify the proposed approach. Computer simulations indicated that in rat model action voltage waveform is largely formed by three current components: L-type calcium current ICa, fast sodium current INa, and transient outward current IKto. In contrast, in human ventricular cell, participation of other components is much more significant. Particularly, the currents generated by electrogenic carrier mechanisms Na-Ca, Na-K and sarcolemmal Ca-pump play an important role.
