| - První dílčí poznatky byly publikovány v článku, který podává informace o metodologii a předběžných výsledcích sociologického výzkumu věnovaného procesu rozhodování o výběru dopravního prostředku v městských oblastech. Cílovou skupinou analyzovanou v článku je dospělá populace žijící v průmyslové městské oblasti. Testovaná hypotéza je hypotéza o nezávislosti fyzických faktorů na rozhodování obyvatel při volbě dopravního prostředku. Článek se pokouší vysvětlit, proč lidé s rozdílnými socio-ekonomickými charakteristikami preferují pro své každodenní cestování určité druhy dopravy a jaké fyzické a socio-ekonomické charakteristiky převažují při výběru určitého dopravního prostředku. V článku jsou dále hodnoceny postoje k různým dopravním prostředkům. S využitím lineární regrese a logit modelů je popřen efekt fyzických faktorů na volbu dopravního prostředku. Naopak postoje se zdají být signifikantním predikátorem, ačkoli pro cyklisty jsou slabším ve srovnání s automobilisty a uživateli hromadné dopravy (cs)
- The paper provides preliminary information on methodology and summarizes the results of a sociological survey focused on the process of choosing the means of transport in an urban area. The data analysed were collected as part of an extensive project aiming at quantifying the costs and benefits connected to the extension of cycling infrastructure.In the paper we focus on the adult population of an industrial area, while testing a hypothesis about the independence of passengers choice from physical variables. We try to explain why people with different socio-economic characteristics prefer various means of transport for their everyday travelling, and what kind of physical and socio-demographic characteristics is predominant for the choice of the means of transport. We also assess the role of attitudes towards various modes of transport and environmental issues. Using linear regression and logit models, the effect of physical factors was denied
