Description
  • The work is focused on the description of respiratory mechanics and kinematics of the spine. It refers to the properties and mechanics of the respiratory system in relation to the kinematics of the spine, taking into account the hidden meaning of long-term impact of breath on the shape and functional properties of the spine. It outlines issues such as respiration quasi-rhythmic action and describes its stationary and nonstationary regimes. The aim of this work is clearly to inform about the current state of knowledge about the formative effect of breathing on the spine and trunk shape changes and describe these relationships from the biomechanical perspective. Based on literature review and results of published experiments, it can be assumed that breathing exercises practiced for a long time have verifiable impact on the mobility and shape of the spine.
