  • Expression of ATO genes is controlled by ammonia. While Ato3p–GFP forms stable patches in plasma membrane, the formation of Ato1p–GFP patches is pH dependent. So besides the ammonia induction of Ato protein synthesis, pH may regulate Ato1p function.
