Description	There is a discussion since more than 200 years about the relation between society and state, the main cathegory of modern social and political systems, in terms of civil society. In socialist countries as well as in East European after 1989 emerged independent concepts in the dissident movements. The monography illustrates using the Czech, Slovak and Polish examples the intellectual encounters with the concepts of citizen, state citizenship, human rights, civil society, community, work for the nation, non-political politics or common good. (en) Das Verhältnis von Gesellschaft und Staat, Leitkategorien moderner sozialer und politischer Systeme, wird seit mehr als 200 Jahren unter dem Begriff der Bürgergesellschaft diskutiert. In den sozialistischen Staaten sowie in den osteuropäischen Transformationsstaaten nach 1989 entstanden aus den Dissidentenbewegungen heraus eigenständige Konzepte. Der Band dokumentiert die intellektuellen Auseinandersetzungen um Begriffe wie Bürger, Staatsbürgerschaft, Menschenrechte, Bürgergesellschaft, Gemeinschaft, Arbeit für die Nation, unpolitische Politik oder Gemeinwohl anhand von tschechischen, slowakischen und polnischen Beispielen. Es zeigt sich, dass das Konzept der %22Civil society%22 keinesfalls als rein westliches Modell zu interpretieren ist, sondern dass in Tschechien und seinen Nachbarstaaten Spezifika und bereits seit der Aufklärung besondere Traditionslinien entwickelt wurden. Der dritte Teil des Bandes stellt Schlüsseltexte von tschechischen Theoretikern, mehrheitlich erstmals in deutscher Übersetzung, vor (V. Benda, K. Capek, V. Cerný, K. Havlícek Borovský, E. Mandler, T. G. Masaryk, J. Nemec, J. Patocka, F. Peroutka, E. Rádl, L. Vaculík).
