  • The article analyses U.S. foreign policy toward revolutionary Cuba in the years 1959-1960. The issue of changing nature of U.S.-Cuban relations provokes complex questions of historical causality. Thus, to examine the dynamics of the relations between both countries, the article focuses on the relations during specific period of the Cold War and summarizes a broader context of the U.S. policy towards Latin America in the first half of the 20th century. The aim is to reveal similarities in the conduct and interests of U.S. politicians. For that matter, the study also deals with representations of Cuba and analyzes how they were connected to certain political decisions.
