  • Katechol-O-methyl transferáza (COMT) je postsynaptický enzym, který inaktivuje uvolněný dopamin a jiné katacholaminy. Činnost COMT je polymorfní vzhledem k G k A přechodu na kodonu 158 na chromozomu 22q 11, která se přeměňuje na valin-methionin změnu v peptidové sekvenci. COMT s Val alelou rychleji inaktivuje uvolňující se dopamin oproti Met alele. V naší studii jsme zjistili ve skupině 44 pacientů se schizofrenní poruchou, že polymorfismus COMT ovlivňuje výsledek vizuální pozornost, měřený pomocí CPT II testu. ValVal homozygoty mají nejhorší výsledek v komisních chybách a reakční době. Toto zjištění potvrzuje roli polymorfismu COMT a kognitivního deficitu u schizofrenie. (cs)

The COMT activity is polymorphic due to the G to A transition at codon 158 on chromosome 22q 11 which translates into valine-to-methionine change in the peptide sequence. COMT with Val allele more rapidly inactivates released dopamine comparing to Met allele. In our study we found in the group of 44 patients with schizophrenic disorder that COMT polymorphism influences the outcome in visual attention measured by the CPT II test. ValVal homozygotes have worst outcome in commission errors and reaction time. This finding confirms the role of COMT polymorphism and cognitive deficit in schizophrenia.
