Description	Material of the genus Maccevethus Dallas, 1852 preserved in the collections of the National Museum, Prague and the Moravian Museum, Brno is revised. We record the syntopic occurrence of Maccevethus errans (Fabricius, 1794) and M. caucasicus (Kolenati, 1845) stat. restit. in Portugal, supporting species status for the latter taxon. The distribution of M. caucasicus in Slovakia is mapped, and habitus photographs and drawings of the parameres of specimens from various countries are provided.
