Description	Incorporation of iron from a low-molecular-mass complex with NTA, iron saturated lacoferrin or transferrin, into cells of parasitic protists Tritrichomonas foetus, Giardia intestinalis and Entamoeba histolytica was followed. The majority of incorporated iron appeared as a labile-iron pool. Ferritin was not observed in any of anaerobic protists tested, while in T.foetus the major iron-binding compound was identified as ferredoxin.
