Description
  • The purpose of this study is to find optimal combination of markers predicting infection/inflammation in cases of PPROM. The study was aimed to a promising new marker - sRAGE (soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products) evaluated in the group of 25 symptomatic patients and 22 controls. In pregnant women with threatened premature labour and PPROM, sRAGE was 860 +/- 269 pg/ml, which was significantly higher than in physiological pregnancy (733 +/- 551 pg/ml, p < 0.05). sRAGE could thus represent a new marker for premature labour, however, larger studies are required to confirm the results of our pilot study. We added cytological cervicovaginal smear using Bethesda classification 2001 in the group of 17 symptomatic patients and 10 healthy pregnant controls. 5 patients with cytotype III delivered within 3-5 days.
