Description	Study in OVX rats treated orally with silymarin for a period of 30 days (25 or 50 mg per day) demonstrated the development of histological and functional uterine alterations which were similar to those induced by oral treatment with estradiol. Findings typical of estrogenic effect included an increase in uterine weight and hypertrophy of the luminal epithelium. Significant changes in ER alpha expression in the endometrium and in concentrations of serum thyroid hormones were also observed.
