Description	Cílem této práce bylo zjistit antimikrobiální aktivitu šesti mastných kyselin o střední délce řetězce (MCFA) proti enteropatogennímu kmenu Escherichia coli C6 a porovnat je s aktivitou kyseliny citrónové, mléčné a fumarové při různých hodnotách pH. MCFA byly lepšími bakteriostatiky než ostatní organické kyseliny; antimikrobiální aktivita mastných kyselin vůči kmenu C6 závisela na hodnotě pH. Příznivé vlivy kyseliny citrónové, mléčné a fumarové, uváděné odborníky na výživu zvířat jsou pravděpodobně způsobeny jinými faktory, než přímým antimikrobiálním působením těchto kyselin. (cs) The aim of this study was to determine the antimicrobial activity of six medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA) against enteropathogenic Escherichia coli strain C6 and compare it with that of citric, lactic and fumaric acid at different pH. MCFA were better antimicrobials than other organic acids; the antimicrobial activity of fatty acids toward the C6 strain was pH-dependent. Beneficial effects of citric, lactic and fumaric acid reported by animal nutritionists are probably related to factors other than their direct antimicrobial action.
