Description	A history of the biological control of stored product mites is reviewed. Thirty-five references in the scientific literature were found principally dealing with acarine predators. The first paper to point out the specific value of Cheylatus eruditus as a predator of acaroid mited appeared in 1912. In 1965, biological control using C. eruditus was put into practice for the first time and in 1986 a method of mass rearing of the predator was developed.
