Description
  • Loss of soil organic matter has been often considered to be an important threat in soil degradation. Due to its long-term dynamics (several decades) the effect of soil management practices on the soil organic matter content in topsoil can be reliably measured in the long-term field experiments.The differences in total organic C content were mainly due to the site conditions while the effect of organic and mineral fertilisation was smaller.Farmyard manure application increased total organic C content, mineral NPK fertilisation had smaller effect. This effect depended on type of soil.
