| - Differences exist between the three winter wheat model cultivars (Samanta, Estica, and Ebi) in efficiency of water utilisation during germination. It is very important for soil seedling emergence, and for the difference between laboratory germinative capacity and field seedling emergence. The highest velocity of the germination with the minimum of necessary water content was observed in cultivar Samanta. The cultivar Samanta has the best ability for growth with a very low level of water content during decrease of water content in sprouting seeds (under drought conditions). In contrast to Samanta, the cultivars Estica and Ebi have low vigour and low efficiency of water utilisation. The seed provenance has a lower effect than that of the cultivar effect .Similar results were also obtained at the another cultivars. Application of 24-epibrassinolide (24-epiBR) during seed development partly counteracts cultivar differences and improves the effect of water utilisation during seed germination in filial ge
