Description	Senescence is a phase of plant development which can be observed in plants by a progressive yellowing of the leaves, and is commonly defined as the sequence of biochemical and physiological events comprising the final stage of development until cell death.The earlist and most drastic change in plant cellular structures during senescence is the breakdown of the chloroplasts. Stress conditions, high temperature or water deficiency, during the grain filling period show many negative effects such as inhibition photosynthetic process and the acceleration of leaf senescence. Both heat and water stresses increase the rate of grain filling but they shorten the duration of this period.The objective of this study was to estimate the effect of nitrogen starvation and different water supply on the rate of senescence of flag leaf.
