  • A pot experiment with a long-term heavy metal contaminated arable soil taken from the vicinity of the lead smelter was performed in a greenhouse. The lead smelter is situated near the city Příbram located about 60 km SW from Prague (Czech Republic). Non-contaminated arable soil taken from the same area was used as the control. The effects of zeolite, CaO and lucerne powder on microbial activities and heavy metal availability in the contaminated soil were studied in a pot experiment with triticale plants. The microbial biomass, dehydrogenase and arylsulphatase activities in the studied soils were determined after the plant harvest. The content of microbial biomass was higher in the contaminated soil than in the non-contaminated control. This result suggests that the microbial communities in long-term contaminated soils can be tolerant to heavy metal effects.   • Na dlouhodobě kontaminované orné půdě odebrané z blízkosti příbramských kovohutí byl uskutečněn nádobový pokus. Nakontaminovaná půda ze stejné oblasti byla použita jako kontrolní. Byl sledován vliv přídavku zeolitů, CaO a vojtěšky na mikrobiální aktivity a přijatelnost rizikových prvků v kontaminované i nekontaminované půdě. Obsahy mikrobiální biomasy, aktivity dehydrogenasy a arylsulfatasy byly stanoveny po sklizni rostlin. Obsah mikrobiální biomasy byl vyšší v kontaminované půdě než v nekontaminované kontrolní půdě. Podle tohoto výsledků je pravděpodobné, že mikroorganismy přítomné v dlouhodobě kontaminované půdě byly do značné míry tolerantní vůči účinkům rizikových prvků. Ve srovnání s kontrolní půdou hnojenou pouze NPK, všechny druhy přídavků zvyšovaly mikrobiální aktivity v obou sledovaných půdách. Nejvyšší obsahy mikrobiální biomasy byly stanoveny ve variantě s přídavkem vojtěšky.
