Description
  • Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (Pcc) infikuje rostliny mnoha druhů. Nejúčinnější esenciální oleje proti této bakterii pocházely z Origanum compactum, O. vulgare a Thymus vulgaris. (cs)
  • Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (Pcc) infects plants of many species. Pcc might cause high economical losses in vegetables and flowers planted in greenhouses and fields. In chemical control, copper preparations are applied most frequently, blit they are not sufficiently effective. Antibiotics such as streptomycin are more effective than copper compounds, but they are banned from use in plant protection in majority of EU countries, hence other alternatives have to be considered. In our trials, thirty-four essential oils obtained from different aromatic plants were tested in vitro as potential inhibitors of Pcc. Streptomycin sulphate (0.02%) was used as the control. The strongest inhibitory effect (up 50 % over compared to standard) against Pcc was shown in essential oils from Origanum compactum, O. vulgare and Thymus vulgaris. Inhibitory activity higher in comparison with streptomycin sulphate (to 50% over compared to standard) was recorded in essential oils from Artemisia absinthium, Eu
