Description	Effect of nitrogen fertilisation, sowing rate, soil and climatic conditions on yields and yield components of 3 varieties of safflower (Gila, CW-74, Sironaria) was studied. The average values of oil content were highest in seeds of CW-74 (27.2 %) and lowest in Gila (24.5 %). Linoleic acid was dominant in all varieties. It represented 81.2 % od the oil content in Gila and only 77.4 % in Sironaria. The effect of year and site on seed yields and other parameters was highly significant. Average seed yield 2.7 t/ha was obtained at Ruzyně, but at Troubsko the yield was by 5 % lower. Different N doses (40 or 80 kg/ha) had an effect on seed yield at Troubsko only. On the other side, N did not influenced number of flower heads or thousand seed weight.
