Description
Omezená diverzita rodu Acitheca (3 druhy ve studované oblasti a 6 druhů v karbonu) a vztahy s žijícími Marattiales byly diskutovány. Ovšem, důležitá otázka, zda-li Schimperova Acitheca je synonymem %22Acitheca polymorpha%22 zůstává nezodpovězena. (cs)
  • The work brings palynological and palaeobotanical information, relating to a Carboniferous plant genus Acitheca Schimper. The Canadian-Czech species of Acitheca were comprehensively studied and reviewed concomitantly with Brongniart's Pecopteris polymorpha types that are redescibed in the light of modern insight into the pecopterid problem. Results include the recognition that Canadian and Czech specimens show foliar differences, in comparison with the types, their reproductive organs show spores ontogenetically differentiated that can be comprehensively grouped with at most three generic sporae dispersae palynomorphs. Restricted diversity of Acitheca (three species in the study areas, six globally in the Carboniferous), and connection with extant marattialeans were discussed. However, the tantalizing question that remains unanswered is whether Schimper's Acitheca is a synonym of Acitheca polymorpha.
