  • Vzhledem k dramatickému poklesu depozice síry, avšak doporovázenému víceméně konstantní úrovní depozice dusíku na území ČR během posledních 10ti let je nasnadě otázka, jak se tento pokles projevil v povrchových tocích malých povodí. Koncentrace hlavních kyselých aniontů (SAA) na 10ti povodích poklesla o více než 10%, na 3 povodích zůstává víceméně konstantní a na 1 povodí vzrostla. Zmíněný pokles SAA v povrchových vodách byl doprovázen poklesem koncentrace bazických kationtů v povrchových vodách a tedy pokles jejich ztrát z povodí. Dalším důvodem poklesu koncentrace bazických kationtů může být jejich klesající koncentrace v půdách povodí s nízkou pufrační kapacitou. (cs)
  • Atmospheric deposition of sulfate decreased by about 60% in period from 1994 to 2004. This significant decrease in sulfate deposition was a result of desulfurization of main coal power stations, which was started in 1993 and completed in 1999. On the other hand deposition of inorganic nitrogen increased by about 10% during same period. This increase of inorganic nitrogen deposition was a result of the increasing amount of transport (vehicular emissions) and gas powered heating plants etc. Mean annual stream water concentrations of SAA decreased significantly at 10 sites (by > 10%), at 3 sites remained virtually constant (change ?10%) and at 1 site significantly increased. The concentrations of BC decreased significantly at the same 10 sites as result of an ionic strength effect due to lowered concentrations of SAA. Additionally, decreased deposition of BC and continued depletion of BC pools in catchments with low buffering capacity soils also contributed to decreasing BC concentrations in streams.
