Description
  • Black shales of the Lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation, southern China, host a regionally distributed stratiform Mo-Ni-platinum-group elements (PGE) rich sulfide layer. Barite occurrences and barite deposits, and various types of carbonates associated with the same sedimentary sequence were studied using C, O, S and Sr isotopes. Carbonate C and O isotope data reflect post-sedimentary diagenetic processes and various pathways of transformation of organic matter. Massive barite layers are characterized by seawater-like Sr isotope ratios, but higher d18O and especially d34S values than those of contemporaneous marine sulfate. In a restricted basin, residual sulfate S and O isotope chemistry was influenced by bacterial sulfate reduction. In contrast, accessory barite of the Ni-Mo-PGE sulfide layer shows different isotope characteristics reflecting most probably later, post-sedimentary barite formation.

  • Černé břidlice spodnokambrické formace Niutitang v jižní Číně obsahují stratiformní sulfidickou mineralizaci Mo-Ni-PGE. Izotopicky (C, O, S a Sr) byly studovány výskyty barytu a různé typy karbonátů, které jsou součástí stejné stratigrafické sekvence a rovněž baryt a karnonáty z Mo-Ni-PGE rudní polohy. Hodnoty izotopů C a O v karbonátech odrážejí post-sedimentární diagenetické procesy a různé způsoby transformace organiky. (cs)
