Description
| - The early recognition of infectious complications in immunocompromised patients is necessary for the successful initiation of antimicrobial treatment. Biochemical markers of inflammation, among which procalcitonin belongs, are one of the parameters on which we rely when standing the diagnosis. In this paper we present, that procalcitonin elevation can be caused by other (non-infectious) mechanism. Among it the administration of anti-thymocyte globulin as a part of allogeneic haematopoietic cells transplantation conditioning regimen belongs.
