Description	Colour pattern in five cephalopod specimens from the Lower Devonian of Bohemian are described. They include two orthoceratoids and three oncocerid nautiloids. Orthoceratoids from shale – sediments unsuitable for preservation of this feature – demonstrate an exceptional case of preservation of colour pattern within Devonian molluscs. Variety of colour patterns, their taxonomic significance, function and significance for palaeoecological interpretation, palaeoenvironmental conditions favouring colour pattern preservation are discussed.
