  • Orlík Reservoir is located downstream from the outflow of wastewater from Temelín Nuclear Power Plant (South Bohemia). A long-term study of 137Cs was carried out in surface water and fish. The effective ecological half-lives (Teff) were evaluated for individual sampling sites of water in the range 1.1 – 2.2 years for the period 1990 – 1994 and 5.7 – 13.9 years for the period 1995 – 2007. Evaluated Teff for fish was one year for the period 1986 – 1990 and 6.3 year for the period 1994 – 2007. After that, concentration factor of 137Cs (CF) in fish was determined. The average value of CF was 368 l.kg-1, during the period 1990 – 2007. Radiation dose from use of the fish as a foodstuff was assessed. Committed effective dose from 137Cs via ingestion with 10 kg fish (by adult) within the first few months after the Chernobyl accident was calculated 4,9 μSv, since 2004 it is smaller than 0.1 μSv.y-1.
