Description	There are presented parts of the research work here, what should lead to the new recommendations for the design of CW used for wastewater cleaning in small villages. In the paper there are summarized information about the maintenance, operation and cleaning effect of some CW in the CR. Among the recommendations it is possible to add new criteria for the design of shape, number and length of reed beds, proposal of the best operational practices for the mechanical pre-treatment and for the manipulation with the water supply objects and for the manipulations with the water level in the treatment fields. It is also possible to use the impulse system of the aeration of the filter bed (by the filling and emptying).
