Description	Within the CMI monitoring, the concentrations of natural radionuclides radium226 and radium228 were monitored in the river bottom sediments. The natural background of these radionuclides and human activity influence to the water environment were evaluated. It turned out, that the sediments are very good indicators of radioactive contamination, including the old loads, especially the radium226 contamination due to former uranium mining and milling. The radium226 contamination rate can be conveniently assessed according to the radium226 and radium228 concentrations ratio.
