Description	Article deals with the development of temperatures in the upper soil layers during the winter seasons. Temperatures were measured in the Orlické hory Mts. on two localities in the various depths of upper soil horizons by the automatic temperature loggers. Soil temperatures in the winter periods varied according to the weather development, air temprature, occurrence and depth of snow cover. Soil temperature in the stand was lower than on the strip cutting in all seasons. The occurrence and length of frozen upper soil layers varied each year. Thaws and rains can positively influence the soil temperatures in the humus horizons. Temperature of water flowing through upper soil horizons decreased. Soil dislocation by installation of temperature sensors affected course of temperatures for a long time, two weeks were the shortest time for stabilization of soil temperatures.
