Description	This paper first reminds briefly the gradual development to contemporary understanding the physical bases and predicting the noise of propellers and propeller aircraft. Some of the recent papers are commented in more detail. Possible further development in propeller propulsion and noise abatement of smaller aircraft is then reconsidered, including also other propulsion alternatives and active noise control methods.
