  • Naše zkoumání chování elektronové koncentrace v F1 vrstvě ukazuje na systematický sezóní a šířkový rozdíl v odezvě F1 vrstvy na geomagnetické bouře. Na vyšších středních šířkách v Evropě nebyl na výškách 160-190 km v létě a zjara pozorován významný efekt bouří, kdežto v zimě a koncem podzimu vidíme výrazný pokles elektronové koncentrace přinejmenším v 180-190 km. Odezva ionosféry na výškách F1 vrstvy nezávisí na typu odezvy F2 vrstvy (foF2) a na sluneční aktivitě. Uvažujeme-li sporadickou vrstvu E jako úzkou difrakční siťku, lze jí modelovat pro šíření radiových vln pomocí určení časové variace foEs. Spektrum těchto variací udává střední periodu variací, která násobena rychlostí větru dává střední vzdálenost mezi body síťky. Bylo zjištěno, že iregularity způsobující psread F jsou převážně způsobeny plazmovými nestabilitami (cs)
  • Our studies of the F1-region electron density distribution revealed systematic seasonal and latitudinal differences in the F1 layer response to geomagnetic storms. At European higher middle latitudes no significant effect has been observed in summer and spring at heights of 160-190 km, whereas well-pronounced depression appears in winter and late autumn at least at 180-190 km. The pattern of the response of the ionosphere at F1 layer heights does not seem to depend on the type of response of F2 layer (foF2) and on solar activity. Considering sporadic E layers as thin diffraction screen, it may be modelled for propagation of radio-waves by the determination of the temporal variation of foEs. Spectrum of these variations indicates the mean period of the variations, which multiplied by the wind velocity gives the mean distance of patches (mean distance between the screen points). It has been found that irregularities causing spread F are mostly due to plasma instabilities
