| - The reason why most companies fail to sustain their Lean conversion is because they fail to understand the power and importance of company culture. No matter what kind of business they are in, there is a prevailing culture that is embedded in the organization. Any continuous improvement initiative, like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, is going to create a disruption in that culture. The prevailing culture will resist change and try to maintain the status quo. This paper will help to understand what we must do to effectively change corporate culture. It includes attitude, actions and behaviors of leaders and the entire workforce. Through examples and illustrations, we will see what steps are involved in creating conditions that will promote and reinforce continuous, sustainable improvement.
