Description
  • Very few data on the incidence and risk factors for aneuploidy, as a significant cause of reproductive disorders in farm animals, are available. Most aneuploid conceptuses die in utero and methods for early assessnebt of aneuploidy are needed. Porcine embryos were collected, transferred onto poly-L lysine-coated slides and fixed with 0.01 N HCl, 0.1 % Tween 20. A method of multi-color fluorescence in situ hybridisation was developed for detecting chromosomes 1, 10 and Y in blastomeres. Only embryos with extra signals were regarded as pathological. Eighty-five of the 93 examined embryos (91.4%) were diploid, 2 (2.6%) were tripolid, 5 (5.4%) were mosaic, 1 (1.1%) showed trisomy, and 44 (47.3%) showed 1 chromosome Y signal.
