| - Regesta diplomatica necnon epistolaria is an editorial series with a long tradition and history. Its eighth volume continues the seventh one that was brought to the year 1363. RBM VIII/1, hereby submitted to the user, covers the years 1364-1366. The charters assembled in this volume are bohemica collected from Czech archives. From the point of view of an historian, the years 1364-1366 have several distinct characteristics. They were marked by great political deeds of Emperor Charles IV, who at the time sought to achieve crucial goals of his imperial policy: to enlarge the geographical extent of the Crown of Bohemia by an annexation of lands north of its existing borders, i. e. of Brandenburg and Lower Lusatia; to bind imperial cities more tightly to the Crown of Bohemia; and to cooperate more closely with the Holy See. The edition contains 518 charters overall, 203 of which are given in full, for they have not yet been edited in a manner that would satisfy modern standards or they have not been published at all. 135 of the charters were written in German, which means that Latin still holds the lead, but the use of German as the language of the charters shows an upward trend. Charters written originally in Czech have not survived, if any existed at all. (en)

Volumen nostrum octavum Regestorum septimam partem editionis (ad annum 1363 perductam) sequitur. Hoc atque nono volumine ergo historia perlonga editionis Registrorum claudetur. Fasciculus hic VIII/1 Regestorum Bohemiae et Moraviae, quem nunc in publicum proponimus, annos 1364. - 1366. continet. Diplomata, in eo collecta, bohemica archivorum nostrorum tantum sunt. Si historia regni Bohemiae spectatur, inter annos 1364. - 1366. varias res animi attenti dignas videmus: Carolus ipse aetate hac facta viri rerum civilium periti fecit, quibus actis praecipue sibi proposuit, ut fines regni Bohemiae auxit. In parte septentrionali prasertim de regione Brandenburgensi nec non Lusatia inferiore agebatur. Carolus etiam civitates Imperii Romani cum regno Bohemiae strictius coniungere voluit. Intimam etiam cum curia Romana cooperationem in animo habuit. Fasciculus hic summatim 518 diplomata continet, e quibus 203 diplomata in extenso in publicum proferuntur, quia adhuc ea typo edita vel non habemus, vel modum priorem edendi eorum nostrae aetati idoneum non esse censemus. Lingua Latina hac aetate in his diplomatibus praevalet. In 135 autem diplomatibus linguam etiam Theotunicam invenimus et numerus diplomatorum Theotunice scriptorum crescit. Diplomata lingua Bohemica scripta non extant.
